Employee Spotlight | Meet Rebecca Reidelbach

REBECCA REIDELBACH | SHIFT MANAGER, DELIVERY DEPOT TEAM

What’s your favorite kind of food?

Definitely pizza. If I could eat it for every meal for the rest of my life, I’d be very happy. Ever had one with a fried egg on it? It’ll change your life. 🍕 🍕 🍕

What was your first job?

I pretty much grew up in the restaurant industry, so I’ve been filling salt shakers and busing tables since elementary school. My mom is a career waitress and we didn’t have babysitters when I was growing up, so my sister and I would go to work with her and she always put us to work.

What’s your favorite book? Movie?

Favorite book would probably be either The Giver by Lois Lowry or Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut.

What’s on your bucket list?

To meet all my living mandolin idols and have them sign my instrument.

Red or black licorice?

Black. Don’t judge me.

A typical weekend for me is.

I keep myself busy at the weekend. I’m a bench jeweler, so I usually spend time making and/or selling my goods. I’m also a musician and try to set aside some time to write or perform music; I play mandolin and sing. I also try to spend a good chunk of my weekend doing fun activities with my dog. She’s a little terrier mix and has a lot of energy so we’re usually at the beach, the river, or out on a hike.

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

My grandad on my father’s side. He passed away when I was two, so we met but I don’t remember him. He taught my dad to play mandolin, and my dad taught me, so I’ve always wished it could have been something the three of us shared together.

How do you relax after a hard day’s work?

Crack a beer, spark a joint, and cuddle my pup! 💕 🐶 🐾

What is one thing people don’t know about you?

Every night at work when I’m done closing up, right after I turn off the light but before I walk out the door, I turn back and say “good night, depot.” 😘

What are you looking forward to in the coming months?

Enjoying summer. Camping, swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding, and warm nights by the fire pit. Summer is the best. Good thing we get so much of it here in California. ⛺️  🏊‍♀️  🛶 🏄‍♀️

What’s your preferred type of cannabis product?

I’m still fond of flower for the most part. I love being able to grow what I consume, and nothing beats puffing on your own homegrown bud.

What’s your favorite strain?

Doc’s OG. I don’t see it often anymore, but when I do I get very excited.

Where do you see the cannabis industry in the next 5 years? 10 years?

I’m no economist but I think the cannabis industry will take off much like the craft beer industry, and I hope it does. One thing I would love to see is more emphasis on teaching people to cultivate themselves. We’ll always need and love our suppliers, but I think there’s a lot of room for hands-on lessons and talented growers who can guide the next generation!

Describe your typical day at fumé.

When I arrive, all our drivers are out on the road, so I like to try and take some time to organize and spruce things up around the depot. General up-keep is so much more manageable when you do it regularly. Then it’s time to get serious manning “the captain’s chair” as we call it; assisting drivers with any issues that may arise on the road, keeping up with data logs, bugging partner support when I need to, etc. And once it’s time, I bring the drivers back in at the end of their shift. It’s one of my favorite parts. Some of the stories our drivers come back with are just astounding. Hilarious, heartwarming, at times horrendous, every driver has some tale of the day to return with and I love getting to be the person that receives them.

What’s your favorite thing about working at fumé?

Hands down the people. From the drivers to the distribution team and all the way up the ladder, everyone involved in this company makes the job so rewarding. I’m always telling fond stories of the incredible characters I get to work with. At the end of the weekend I’m stoked to return to all the awesome people I’m lucky enough to get paid to spend my time with.
